Stepping over a tub wall is the hardest movement left in most bathrooms. A conversion removes that step: the tub comes out, a low-threshold pan goes in the same footprint, and the walls get solid backing so a grab bar can be mounted into wood. It is an aging-in-place modification, not a remodel.
